Fitting the Nuclear Binding Energy Coefficients
Abstract
Considering Z = 21 to 100 from particle physics data, in the semi empirical mass formula, the five energy coefficients can be expressed as av = 16.3 MeV, as = 16.4 MeV, ac = 0.772 MeV, aa = 23.8 MeV and ap = 11.9 MeV. Sum of the first three terms can be fitted with one equivalent term and it can be expressed as (A/As)1/2*A*8.93 MeV where As = 2Z + (Z/4p)2 can be considered as the stable mass number of Z.
